Creep Woland - Repeater

  • Head-in-the-clouds electro on a promising Scottish label.

  • Every release on the young Edinburgh label Headset has been worth a listen, but the new one from Ayshire's Conor Woland really takes the cake. The four-track EP presents atmospheric electro that slaps in spite of its head-in-the-clouds demeanour, with "Repeater" at the top of the heap. Beautiful chords fade and phase over the clacking electro beat, and there's something viscerally satisfying about the delay on the drum sounds, the way the snares stick out of the mix like a foot extending off the bed and out from the covers to get some cool air. It's effortless, both pretty and deeply physical, and a good pathway into an essential new Scottish imprint.
