- The debut compilation from Sputnik One's N-Face label, By Hook Or By Crook, is a remarkably cohesive UK bass-inspired project that toys with the tempos of dancehall, broken beat, hard drum and more. "Seriously Soda," from Scottish producer LWS, balances these slippery rhythms out with a ribbed techno drive that trembles with IDM whirs and stutters, sounding like a computer with some Oidz stuck inside corrupting the system. A small droplet that sounds eerily close to the NTS ident chime cuts through the air and centres everything. It wouldn't all come together without that most delicate part.
