- Last year, Gideon Berger launched Homo-Centric Records with an EP that balanced the sourish pucker of 303s with the sultry smoothness of deep house chords. And while that production debut was impressive in its call back to house's bygone eras, his homage was missing one crucial ingredient: the vocal hook. Luckily, on his second release, Storytime, Berger teams up with vocalist Mandel Turner for "Nothing Without You." There are some chopped pads to give the track a bit of depth, but really it's a duet between Turner's soulful croons and an irrepressible acid line that wiggles across the low-end. This is one of those rare house bombs that you could unleash with confidence at your cousin's wedding or a summer festival stage and send both crowds into a frenzy.
