- Danielle's label Soft Raw delivers another weirdo knockout, this time from a near-unknown.
- Soft Raw is the label from the phenomenally talented Bristol DJ Danielle, and so far, the label lives up to its founder's reputation. The second release is from relatively unknown London producer Austen, offering a very UK style of techno—that is to say, with outsized percussion and no particularly sub-genre allegiance. The title track is my favourite, trippy and heart-palpitating with an old-school, Goa-ish lead that gurgles like an unclogging drain and another synth lead that lashes around in the peripheries to really fuck with your sense of spatiality. It's kind of trance, but not really. This is just great techno gear in 2023.
