  • It's been ten years since Paula Temple launched her industrial, noise and techno label Noise Manifesto. The imprint initially started with a dream: to nurture a "queer positive world," with only "manifesto and music" as the guiding force. 10 Years Part 4 is the final instalment of the label's celebratory ten-year compilation series. The previous three parts featured artists like the Derry-based duo RIOT CODE, Boudica founder Samantha Togni and Gegen resident OCD. On the final compilation, Temple showcases four lesser-known producers who reflect the spirit of Noise Manifesto: maxed-out kicks, bone-chilling vocals and, occasionally, cinematic melodies. Syrian procedure Jassass offers a full-throttle trip on "Derealization," written to reflect his harsh two years living as a refugee from Syria. At the start of the track, orchestral vocals slip into the soundscape, building a melancholy mood. Then, over three minutes in, an increasingly frantic vocal details the onset of a panic attack. Words like, "the tighter my chest got, the more hopeless I felt," heighten the tension before an explosion of noise-driven percussion and furious kicks, all of which help to translate his story across a straight-up techno template. London-based Lesser Of offers the EP's most brutal track, "How To Escape Myself," constructed with claustrophobic kick drums and hissing percussion—like something Pilldriver would make. But a floating, witchy melody adds a misty vibe that dials down the harshness, making the cut both leathery and light. Finland's Tymon melds acid and hardcore on "Tounela," whipping up pads that sound plucked from a vintage horror film score. Polish producer Hybral contributes a slightly less heart-palpitating feel on "Haunting Desires." At 138 BPM, it's the slowest track on the record, but it doesn't need a racing tempo to carry it. Walloping drums, screechy acid—and in its quiet moments, a creeping, slow-burning melody—dominate this searing closer. 10 Years Part 4 is raucous, slamming techno from a new wave of producers leaving their individual stamp on the genre. With 100 percent of the income generated donated to TheBridge2Hope, which supports 30 people per year recovering from human trafficking, the release is both sonically and thoughtfully aligned with the ethos of Noise Manifesto.
