Mossambi - EBreakingSystem

  • More headscrambling, leftfield techno from All Centre.

  • You could prep a whole set of just All Centre tunes and be covered for every moment of the night: the tense build-ups, the pumping climaxes and plenty of the wonky bits in between. London-based newcomer Mossambi fits nicely into the latter of those three with "EreakingSystem," my favourite off his debut record, Resurf. This deconstructed techno track combines the bubbling tension of GiGi FM's Magnetite with the rich textures of Soreab's Kraepelin Avenue EP. An accelerating bassline hurtles through what sounds like the inner workings of a telecoms network, past strangled voice snippets, wound-up dials and the swelling hum of telegraph wires. But despite its frantic urgency, it never manages to break out of this dense labyrinth. It just simmers, caught perpetually in between.
