Emissive - Grannr

  • A rhythmic techno chugger to induce gentle euphoria.

  • Toronto producer Emissive, one half of house music duo Active Surplus, has a knack for dreamy house and techno cuts. While his previous work embraced warm tones, his latest offering, Unseen Measures for Aronia Records, goes a tad darker. Spacey and synthy, it evokes scenes of interstellar travel with its deep, flowing bass lines. On "Grannr," stirring chord progressions combine with cascading synth lines and steady drums to foster a blissed-out state. Steeped in ambient, dub and acid, the track feels unassuming but it hits heavily, the kind of groove that can induce self-reflection. Suitable for both after-hours and opening sets, "Grannr" is a hazy slow-burner to get lost in.
