- DJ Void first popped up on a split 12-inch with Hardworksoftdrink originators Cédric Dekowski and Felix Reifenberg. Sharing your first release with two of Frankfurt's funkiest is a tall order, but "Messina Bay," with its buttery bassline and organ chords, was the record's high point. On his follow-up (this time for Lisbon's Magic Carpet), the Austrian producer keeps the churn going with four breaky house groovers best enjoyed with a fizzy drink and some Vitamin D. The highlight is "Smordrumz (Smooth Rida Mix)." The swung drums give the track its titular smoothness, but it's the darting melodies that give it personality. DJ Void plays with volume and frequencies as he teases synth line after synth line, giving us a full Neapolitan of melody.
