  • "You tried to bury me, but I'm a seed," reads a quote on Melbourne producer Brixx's Bandcamp page. The sheer darkness of Brixx's music embodies the repressed desire and frivolity that can come with being queer, especially in difficult circumstances. "Double Axe," with its strobing synths and lumbering New Beat-influenced kick drums, conjures the image of Brixx wrestling with that internal struggle and eventually managing to germinate. The track has the intensity of an '80s power ballad approaching detonation.
