- Much of 8ULENTINA's music is location and movement-based. Their music, which finds the link between Turkish instrumentation and experimental club music, is at once intimate and frantic, like a fleeting conversation with a friend that refuses to settle in one place for long. Their latest EP, DEPARTURE, finds them on the run once more, with six tracks of sinuous melodies that mist over undulating Middle Eastern rhythms. The outlier track, "Atmosphere Without Detail," also happens to be the record's standout. A wood instrument moans out mournful notes, while the intricate percussion that remains a constant throughout the EP is swapped for driving breaks.
