  • They used to call Reggie Jackson Mr. October due to his ability to perform spectacular feats during the baseball post-season. An appropriate nickname for Stefan Kozalla, AKA DJ Koze, might be Mr. September (or July or August), due to his uncanny ability to delivery airy summer anthems. A few years ago, there was the bittersweet filter-house revivalism of "Pick Up." Now, he's delivered an extended remix of Lakou Mizik & Joseph Ray's "Sanba Yo Pran Pale," a gift to the late-summer festival circuit. The original is an accapella Vodou chant that introduces Leave The Bones, the collaborative album between the Hatian roots (Rasin) band and Nero member Joseph Ray. Koze makes it look easy, adding airy chords, amapiano-informed percussive bounce and a loose, undulating bass line that buoys the original vocal.
