  • It was the turn of the century and embryonic forms of dubstep were being classified as "dark UK garage mutations" from the edges of South London. Then came Digital Mystikz. Prior to their ascencension, the pioneering duo had a faint underground presence and were struggling to sell records. It was in 2006 when DJs worldwide took notice of their sound, when dubstep started to explode into a phenomenon far beyond south of the Thames. It's been over 15 years since then, and for the first time, Mala has decided to digitally reissue his back catalogue. This time, Digital Mystikz go back even further, with one of the most hotly anticipated cuts yet: "CR7 Chamber," one of the tracks that got early audiences hooked on the sound. It's taken from Rephlex's pivotal 2004 dubstep compilation, somewhat confusingly called Grime 2. Dark and glacial, "CR7 Chamber" holds up almost two decades later, emanating the sort of venomous energy that modern club experimentalists aspire to channel.
