- Violet is emerging from lockdown energized. Her return to her own Naive imprint earlier this year was full of energy, a stark turn away from recent experimentations with gentler tones and tempos. The title track from her new EP picks up where that one left off. There's almost a militancy to "Sickle And Hammer," not just in the gun cocks we hear throughout, but also in the percussion. Alongside the vicious reverb from the kicks, the weaving, dueling drum lines sound like they were played on steel garbage cans at the front of a protest line.
