Open Space, the fledgling label from Miami's DJ Ray and Goiz, is one to watch. While the imprint is informed by a number of au courant sounds—acid, breakbeat, downtempo, ambient house—they've shifted into their own dreamy lane over just a couple of releases (see last year's top-notch Gateway Shuffle 12-inch). Now, Open Space has launched a new Club Tools series with a various artists EP featuring idiosyncratic rhythms from the likes of Benedek. Melbourne producer Liluzu takes the most creative approach, combining sub-rattling breakbeats, 303 and buoyant melodies with a dubbed-out stab for the requisite long blends.
