- OMAAR might have put out one of the best albums yet on NAAFI earlier this year, but his new release as his alter ego DJ Lonely is all techno. The EP, SL73, comes with only two words—"car inspiration"—and its sound is as sleek and comfortably retro as the '90s Mercedes Benz on the artwork. The title track is the easy highlight. Accompanied by a weirdly captivating video of a Mercedes driving around a garage, this is pure, swaggering, '90s-informed techno with a modern touch: namely, thrillingly monotonous chord stabs paired with pressure cooker hi-hats.
