- As one of Equiknoxx's most prominent vocalists, Shanique Marie has been key to some of the Kingston label's most memorable tracks. Her voice has a versatile charm, flitting from a honeyed pop timbre to a tough dancehall lilt, sometimes in the same song. Equiknoxx might be known for producing irresistible dancehall earworms, but this first single off Marie's upcoming debut album, Gigi's House, shows the label's more sentimental side. Produced by American composer Michael Vincent Waller, AKA MVW, "Ballad" carries the hallmarks of Marie's earlier R&B experimentations in a track that beautifully captures the push-and-pull of an ill-fated romance.
