- I tend to think the best remixes fall into two camps: ones that lightly touch the original or remixes that sound nothing like their source material. Laska’s version of Azu Tiwaline’s “Izen Zaren” is the latter. The original is skeletal and mournful, following wisps of reed instruments and hand drums. Laksa’s remix turns the original inside out, warping it into a fierce and angular club track. You can hear the drums from the original, but in Laksa’s version they lose their funeral cadence alongside iron kicks and crashing snares. Throw in some synth wails and you’ve got a full-throttle UK techno banger.
