Witch Trials - Hollow Grave

  • Floating, foreboding techno.

  • Witch Trials' artist name and track titles—like "Hollow Grave"—give you a good idea of what to expect from his music: dark, gloomy, heavy. But it's not pounding, relentless techno. Instead, "Hollow Grave" is spacious and crisp, like cool night air, at least at first. A dangling, broken techno rhythm is eventually overtaken by a fog of synth that becomes a roaring crescendo, like early Shed meets Samuel Kerridge, or maybe Slowdive goes dub techno. It grows more and more ominous as it lurches towards its finale, a piece of sound design wizardry that feels more like a scintillating penny dreadful than a standard techno tune.
