- Last week, fledgling label Critique released YERAZ, an all-Armenian compilation highlighting talent from, in their words, "Los Angeles to Yerevan." Club Chai founder Lara Sarkissian's contribution, "Suspended in Time, By The Sea," sounds like sketches of a place drawn from memory, as if imagining a lost homeland. The track ebbs and flows between jungle, dusty zither, and tenuous vocals, and after traveling through a dubby mid-section, we somehow end up near the trickling ocean. Stretching out over six minutes, none of these moments feel rushed—there's plenty of room to appreciate each shift in the journey.
