  • Oblique, a resident of Berlin collective Sonic Ground, has a way of making sound feel tangible. Based around analog synths and percussion-driven samples, his fluid compositions fill up a room with the weight of their rhythmic mutations. On "Cybin," waves of warped ambient slowly unfurl to achieve maximum mind-altering impact but right when they hit peak zen, he surprises with a burst of banging drum and bass. Displaying a masterful control of bending sound with the help of Maurício Goi Lacerda on guitar, "Cybin" deserves not just one, but several listens to truly get your head around it.
