- As a film composer, Jean-Gabriel Becker is used to creating abstract soundscapes. Alongside partner-in-crime Susumu Mukai, his instinct for loose rhythms easily translates to the dance floor. "Stellar Surf," from the duo’s 2020 album Time Very Near, features elements of dub techno, but when remixed by Becker under his Lux Prima alias the track revisits the Frenchman's cinematic roots. Here, Becker takes it slow with an emphasis on sequenced percussion and spaced-out synths, creating a downtempo groove that retains the original's squelching, dial-up modem noises for a truly warped vibe.
