Spare Time - Lazy

  • Spare Time, the joint collaboration between Mouseup and Undo offers Factor City its second helping from the pair with the single Lazy. Original Mix is a very deep, groovy melodic slice of heaven with its smooth textures that gives a fresh sound to deep house. Pulsating bass kicks just bumping into the night, this is a great warm-up track to get the crowd moving. Gentle strings in the midway gives the track depth and longevity, allowing it to cross over to "lounge" territory where chic restaurants would embrace. Though the vocals try to add a layer, a dimension to the piece, it's lacking passion in its presentation. Too soft for the most part that it sounds lost behind the instrumentals; an instrumental version would be essential to own if given the opportunity for purchase. Agoria's Mix is heads towards a techy route with its hi-hats that makes way for a cool electro-vibe. The way he pulses those distorted bass notes, flatting them, making it funky without being funky in that techno-way offers a lot of djs a chance to play with more groovy sounds. He's going for an ol-skool vibe, with those late '80s/early '90s synths, and for some people it will work, but for others, they may find it a bit dated. Nonetheless, it's a wicked remix that holds its own against the original.
