  • Shinichi are set to release a remix by Samio of Loudeast’s 2003 classic ‘Lights Off’. The original featured on Desyn Masiello’s side of the In House We Trust 3 compilation. This monster 12 minute mix oozes deep, crisp beats and a serious, rolling baseline which stays embedded in your mind. No percussion is apparent early on as smooth sounds and stabbing, short synths spike the air, but once they play out, all that is left is the beat and baseline. The build is one of the slowest builds I’ve heard, though in a good way as it teases and turns nicely, but once the mix sees some hit hats, more effected sounds and melodies that bounce with the baselines, things get interesting. Moving into the extended breakdown, things get even more interesting as soft percussion, sustained sounds, strong strings and a lush melody create a different landscape. Dropping back into the beat, a range of different sounds are utilised to the end accompanied by the strings. This remix can definitely have its own release as the quality is excellent. Taking the original and creating an awesome track is something I always enjoy.
