Steve Porter - Homegrown EP#2

  • Next up on FDS Recordings is a release from a firm favourite in many Progressive record crates, that man being Steve Porter. He unleashes 4 brand new tracks taken from his forthcoming album in this the EP #2. Homegrown is first up, and what a way to get things rolling. A festive and energy filled production. The drums are sizzling as are the beautiful melodic soundscapes that combine deliciously with the driving baselines and surrounding sounds and effects. On the flip is Rage In The Cage (Here), and it is again another thick juicy slice of Porterhouse. Good low end driving sounds help create the vibe of this production, and they are aided by some lively melodies and constantly changing riffs. Swanky is first up on the second disc, and it is a different tone from the outset here, with the drums not as influential as they were on disc one. Instead, there is a bit of a retro vibe with the old feel riffs and industrial style baselines. Quite an interesting production to say the least. Turn it over, and you firstly have Sandbox, a track that really focuses on the melodic style of Porter. The drum patterns are a little quirky, and they work quite well with the delightful mood and aura of the melodic patterns. Electric Jelly concludes the EP in a bit of style with a slight peak time number from Steve. The baseline is quite funky yet driving at the same time, and the melodic twirls are constant and definitely influential in the final outcome of this electric production. A very solid EP by a man that really can do no wrong. A very strong taste into how well his album should be when it hits stores shortly.
