Danny McMillan - All About The Rhythm/Distraction Diversion - Roots Control

  • Danny McMillan's Inflight Entertainment label has been sitting low for quite some time with the last release being McMillan & Tab's "Work It" from 2003. Now for their 6th release In-Flight present two tunes with head honcho Danny Mcmillan on one side and a McMillan & Tab remix of Inflight artist Distraction Diversion on the flip. Side A. Danny McMillan - All About The Rhythm If there was ever a seperate genre for evangelist breakbeat, this tune would be the opening and closing hymn. A preacher like vocal shouts and proclaims to all his followers asking them "Do you feel it?". Similar in ways to the Plump DJs "Funk Hits The Fan" but on a slightly deranged and serious tip. Beatswise it follows in the tradition of McMillan productions - atmospheric tech elements like drawn out synth sweeps and ambient tech noises take control of the introduction whilst the mid section is fattened up by a big monotonic bassline and techy hooks. Side B. Distraction Diversion - Roots Control (McMillan & Tab remix) McMillan & Tab churn out a wicked percussive take on Roots Control. Opening up with a long and very DJ friendly percussive break, the vibe of the tune doesn't really happen until about 128 bars into the track. Much like the A-side, Roots Control is a big bassy number with crazy drum loops, weird tech noises with a ragga man chanting the title. The beats go into a 4/4 phase during the first breakdown then it quickly returns to the dark beats from before.
