- The gorgeous textures on the Latvian producer mutate3k's "Static" sound like an offshoot of PAN's 2017 ambient compilation, mono no aware. That's no big surprise—the EP's title track, which sets the tone for the whole release, is a collaboration with the PAN affiliate Kareem Lotfy. "Static" sounds like life inside a computer, but it's not glitchy. It's smooth, perhaps like your Internet connection, with the fine hisses and only temporary abruptions. "CCrush" samples the lines from Psycho, alluding to the matrix we might be inside. That said, Static is light and easy to enjoy, whether it's the piano motives on "Crossing+" or the mechanic, water-like sounds on "Transmute."
