Hence Therefore - Waste Frontier

  • A limber combination of bass and techno.

  • The Australian producer Hence Therefore makes dance music that borrows from classic UK dubstep and the twitchy drums of Timedance, then lathers the music in a cloak of delay. "Waste Frontier," the lead track on his All Centre debut, wobbles and stumbles through its five minutes. The bassline is loose and dynamic, while the drums bang out a broken beat punctuated by carefully chopped breaks that splash into heavy reverb. It all coalesces into melancholy techno that'll get stuck in your head, a detail-oriented feast for the ears that's also likely to encourage some interesting shapes on a dance floor. Hence Therefore isn't new (he runs an under-the-radar label called 3BS, and has fans in artists like Air Max '97 and AYA), but his new EP might get the rest of the world into his limber style of club music.
