- Hyper-detailed techno for daring DJs.
- Sam Barker and Ostgut Ton are proving to be an excellent combination. BARKER 001, his second solo release for Berghain's in-house label, is a low-key white-label packing three intelligent techno tracks. It's more rhythmic than Barker's excellent Debiasing EP from last year but just as touching, pushing a sculpted, considered sound that pairs scattershot drums with tender synth tones. Best of all is "Neuron Collider," which is on the verge of disintegration until a gorgeous sustained synth tone bursts through the chaos. Ostgut Ton says this EP is for the dance floor, but it's going to take a skilled DJ to make these hyper-detailed tracks work.
