Chris Fortier - Despegue

  • Label Manager and top draw DJ, Chris Fortier returns to the studio for the next release on his beloved imprint, Fade Recordings. He follows the very impressive ‘Whateveritis’ single he released on Fade with this latest cut, Despegue, and when Chris Fortier hits the studio expect nothing but a very large for the floors prog anthem. The Main Mix on the a-side doesn’t disappoint. Smooth crisp beats flow alongside some very nice deep string patterns that establish a very smooth atmosphere. Deep smooth baselines also give the track a very nice groove, and help maintain the solid flow the track has throughout its entirety. The arrangement is very ‘non-stop’, with little breaks in proceedings, and it really has a strong progression as nice melodic patterns help it hit peak time deep into the track. The Dub on the flipside is quite similar in most parts. IT has a very similar first half, with nice deep strings as well as the nice groovy baseline helping it to build. The track differs towards the latter stages, as a pretty lengthy breakdown is included in the dub, and most importantly, there is a noticeable absence of the melodic patterns like the main mix. A pretty strong release again from Chris Fortier, doing what he does best, creating good strong peak time progressive material.
