Trifactor - Deep Mind EP

  • The latest record from UK's CP Recordings comes via Los Angeles local Trifactor (aka Vic Aslanyan). The Deep Mind EP is his debut release for CP and it's easy to see why his previous work has received plays from Max Graham, Dave Dresden and Fred Numf. Deep is indeed the mood of the A side Deep Control. The track opens with a flurry of toms and filtered hits, as unrelenting techy percussion drives the track. Piano keys are introduced which gently take away the tough edge of the introduction. Then the breakdown bulids with synth stabs and a chord change paino riff until the beat is dropped back in with a bang. Think big room tech house. What's on your mind is definately my pick of the two. A deep jumpy bassline gives this a track a great groove and a very progressive feel. Minimal percussion dances around the main themes but never gets in the way. Half way through the track a vocal sample is introduced along with uplifting pads which really take the track to another level. The breakdown allows the vocal full attention and then the beat is brought back with real funk. A great track. So, if you like your house tracks deep and techy and with a whole lot a groove... This record's definately worth checkin' out. Perfect warm up, middle or end of set tunes.
