  • 2017 sees Dynamo Dreesen's Acido Records leave the 12-inch format for a dalliance with the double-pack. Who better to take the reins than Porn Sword Tobacco? The Swedish producer, who's no stranger to Acido, has developed an affinity for the format. Both 2015's Magnifik Botanik ‎for Aniara Recordings and last year's Recordings 1 - 4 with SVN were double packs that featured some of Henrik Jonsson's best work as Porn Sword Tobacco. This EP finds him at his most transcendental. From the surfer on the cover to the birdsong and gently lapping waves in the music, the relationship between humanity and nature seems key. There's so much detail to pore over that you can understand why the label decided to press one track per side. Two enveloping ambient tracks bookend the double pack, including the particularly rewarding ten-minute D-side. A heat-soaked saunter through heavily textured loops that phase in and out of focus, it remains captivating until its closing seconds. The other two tracks are more unpredictable. The B-side is vintage Acido, as the chatter of birds mingles with smudged pads and far-off percussion. A more focused groove appears after a few minutes—familiar dappled drums pitched just right to complement the submerged sonics. The C-side plunges deeper into the abstract. It's a romantic type of ambient rife with passing narratives, as though Jonsson is idly browsing the FM dial to soundtrack a day at the beach.
