Peter Bailey – Electrified

  • New York based Peter Bailey returns to the production scene with Electrified on En-Soul Records. Bailey is a producer who is well established on the scene, with the likes of John Digweed, Steve Lawler, Anthony Pappa and Victor Calderone all supporting past productions. This release is the 5th on En-Soul, a label that he set up with Mike Macaluso. On the a-side is Pete’s Big Room Only Mix, and it is clear to see why it is named as it is. The production is top notch, and the drums are quite big and bold. The trademark tribal tones of Bailey’s work shines through yet again. As well as the chunky drums, the track features vibrant baselines as well as some quirky effects and a short vocal sample, that make for a chunky dance floor experience that would be worthy for the likes of Steve Lawler in particular. On the flip is Macaluso & Bailey’s Hardline Mix. On the whole the b-side is quite similar to the a-side, with the tribal drums a main focus. A subtle baseline rides along in the background of the track, and the vocal samples are yet again present. The track however does have a very good flow, with minimal breaks in proceedings helping the track to flow along nicely. Subtle effects also help the track nicely in the second half, giving the production another big room feel. Another pretty solid release on En-Soul, and a release that is sure to please those who like it tribal.
