Various Artists - Framed & Formed

  • Anyone doubting that the state of Texas is currently a musical hotbed for forward thinking techno need look no further than Bernhard Pucher (a.k.a. Brian Aneurysm)’s Iron Box Music label. Their seventh release, entitled “Framed and Formed”, features original tracks by Scott Findley, Soultek, Maetrik, and Mr. Aneurysm himself. The record proves there’s simply no argument that some of the best music of the moment is coming from down south U.S.A. Scott Findley kicks off this four track release with a bang. “Acid Face” is so full of the down and dirty tech funk that you can practically sense the deceased dancing in their graves to this original production. A ferocious bass line, pounding kick drum, and head candy synths make this tune a proper stormer guaranteed to drive many a dance floor out of their minds. Chicago’s Soultek follows with “Clickz and Popz”, a nice contrast to “Acid Face”. The production combines just the right amount of minimal quirkiness along with jack’ in funk to make this track work at any hour of the day. Soultek’s productions continue to amaze – remaining intelligent yet diverse…”Clickz and Popz” is no exception. The B-side features Texas Native’s Maetrik and Aneurysm. Maetrik’s “Protext” is a synth filled journey through the fields of techno. The melodies give a sense of urgency over a simple bass line that simply pounds the listener into submission. Iron Box Music owner Brian Aneurysm rounds out the record with “Ignore Me”. Along the lines of Soultek’s “Clickz and Popz”, “Ignore Me” is a minimal number, featuring a haunting female vocal over a deep bass line that creeps around your neck, down your spine, and gets that booty shaking. It hasn’t taken many releases for Iron Box Music to get noticed by some of the most progressive thinking DJ’s and Producers across the globe. Pick up the seventh release from this excellent label – it would simply be a fallacy of great proportions not too.
