Anarcrusan – In My Mind

  • This is it. ‘In My Mind’ has been doing the rounds for over 6 months with widespread support from Pete Tong, John Digweed, Paul Oakenfold and many others. Here on Shinichi, one of their biggest releases to date, Mas Collective hit the spot with one of the records of the year. It featured on Deep Dish’s Global Underground Toronto and has made a lot of people sit up and take notice. The M.A.S Arcadia mix starts off with very smooth beats and a simple, minimal bassline. As the mix gets deeper, atmospheric sounds and light melodies wash over as the rolling bassline sustains the chilling groove. The smothered, soft synths of the main melody play a glorious role in reaching a new peak as it moves into a gut-wrenching breakdown. A beautiful flute sample accompanied by a haunting vocal gets knocked out with the return of the driving bassline as we see different melodies make an appearance alongside the previous melody. Nothing but pure quality. Nothing but pure deep, progressive house music. Flipping it over to the Undertouch mix and suddenly it leaps off the decks and hits you straight in the chest with a full on, solid bass drum. The main melody comes in early and has been reworked with a deeper feel. As the track gets into gear, two short breakdowns assist in pumping up the climax as the original melody makes its appearance right in the middle of the track. The sounds of the melody are intensified and gets involved with the main breakdown. Deep sounds and voices sprawl over the muffled synths as the drop back into the beat is quite devasting. As the track runs towards the end, the melody interacts with basslines as they take turns every two beats. I am totally dumfounded by this mix. Be careful, drooling is will be present. If I were to put money in the stock of this record, I would sell everything I owned as this is so timeless.
