- There's something insidiously addictive about "Baby Let Me Finish"—its delirious percussive fever uncontrollably slips and slides around the stereo spectrum in a furious tantrum. Unapologetically ecstatic, it's the sound of Bwana trading in the measured tension-building of his earlier work for sheer gurning enthusiasm. What keeps it from getting lost in its own obnoxious frenzy, though, is Nathan Micay's ear for pop-calibre vocal manipulation, which holds on tight even in the midst of a tornado.
The flipside smartly turns it inside out; "Nami Swan" is a forlorn ballad composed of the same sounds, matching the soap opera drama of his earlier work yet sacrificing none of the brute force of the A-side. Two remixes of "Baby" are thrown in for good measure: Black Orange Juice misguidedly attempts to dialogue with the vocal sample, while 14th turn it into a deep house slow-burner, but neither have a spot on the original's fiercely singular ebullience.
