- After reviewing the original mixes and epic Pole Folder mix a little while back, we return with the Chris Fortier mixes of Fortunato & Montresor's classic record 'Imagine'.
On the a-side is the Chris Fortier Remix. The track begins with some nicely paced drums and a simple baseline. The familiar synths from the original are looped to good use with some vocal snippets roaming around the production. The track continues in the same vein until a cute melody rings, and then an effected melody loops in conjunction with a vocal loop that takes the track on a different tangent. The track then builds to a pretty epic climax as some subtle strings ride in the background. Not a bad rework by Fortier.
On the flip is the Chris Fortier Dub. Obviously it uses a little less of the vocals, however, the trademark synth is quite prominent as is the cute piano melody that made a short appearance on the a-side. Overall, the dub doesn’t quite reach the climatic peaks that the remix did, but is a welcome addition to the remix package for this classic tune.
Some nice club firendly mixes of this brilliant tune. No disrespect to Mr. Fortier, but he had a near impossible task of improving on the original mix, so while this may be an impressive souped up version, it still falls a little short of the original mix. Still impressive nonetheless.
