Cologne meets Berlin in Seattle on the debut longplayer for Jeff Samuel. 'Step' is released next month on Trapez.
Jeff Samuel is the Seattle-based minimal techno and tech house producer who's had releases on Poker Flat, Trapez and Spectral Sound. Most recently he provided the bounce on a remix of Phonique's 'The Gift' for Simple Records. Although a video game sound effects engineer by trade, Samuel's music is anything but bleep techno, characterised instead by deep minimal grooves, surging basslines and hints of warmth and melody.
After several 12"s for Trapez and its limited offshoot, next month Samuel returns to the Cologne fold for his debut album. On 'Step' Samuel continues down the melodic path taken on past releases such as 'Bork' and 'Endpoint' but also introduces new elements such as strings and even the odd broken beat. He also delivers more jacking numbers such as 'Off the Mark' and 'Those were the Days'.
'Step' will be released both as a double vinyl package and on CD with three additional tracks included on the CD version.
