  • Resident Advisor has appointed a new editor and deputy editor. Gabriel Szatan arrives to lead the global editorial team working between RA's New York and London offices, with Rachel Grace Almeida joining in London to assume the deputy position. RA has also made two internal promotions. After a decade of service, Carlos Hawthorn has become the new managing editor. Nyshka Chandran is the futures editor, a new role that covers disruptive developments in the music business and will build on her work spearheading the RA Pro newsletter. Gabriel Szatan returns to RA with over a decade's work in electronic music, most notably as a senior curator, editor and host at Boiler Room during the broadcaster's 2010s growth phase. TIDAL's outgoing head of dance & electronic, Szatan has covered club and pop culture for the likes of Pitchfork, the Guardian and Red Bull Music Academy. He was one of the contributing voices in RA's first published book, Sacred Spaces. Venezuelan writer and editor Rachel Grace Almeida becomes RA's deputy editor after a six-year run at Crack Magazine. Almeida has previously written for i-D, Dazed, Bandcamp and Time Out, with a specialist line in art, politics and Latin diaspora issues. She also holds down a monthly residency on NTS Radio. "I'm extremely excited to welcome Gabriel and Rachel to the RA team," said chief creative & brand officer Kazim Rashid. "They both excelled throughout an intense recruitment phase–we received over 300 applicants and the competition was very strong. Meanwhile, Carlos and Nyshka are being promoted to complete a leadership team that will allow us to execute the creative vision of RA in a refreshed way." In further news, RA recently achieved B Corp certification, recognised for demonstrating ongoing commitment to social and environmental awareness, as well as equitable working practises. There are less than 40 arts and entertainment firms worldwide that have been granted this certification. Read more about B Corp via the website.
