  • Queer London film festival BFI Flare is screening documentaries on hard house pioneer Tony De Vit and legendary Hollywood club Studio One in March. Taking place at BFI Southbank from March 13th through 24th, the 38th BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival will screen Don't Ever Stop: Tony DeVit on March 22nd and 23rd. The film tracks the Birmingham DJ's rise to stardom while exploring themes of love, loss, gay identity, hero worship and attitudes to AIDS. Studio One Forever, a celebration of the iconic Hollywood club, will screen on March 21st and 22nd. The film offers insights into dance and celebrity culture in the '70s, and the changing face of the gay community. The festival will also include films on Lil Nas X, German photographer Jürgen Baldiga and the AIDS epidemic in '80s Los Angeles. As well as the film programme, BFI Flare will host club nights featuring DJ sets from Dalston Superstore residents Fèmmme Fraîche, Bhangra turntablist DJ Ritu and London's DJ Kaspa.
