  • Sample sound library Splice has released a new mobile app. The app contains Splice's Create feature plus its full library of samples, which features more than 300 instruments from 140 genres of music. Users can stack up to eight layers of sound using any iOS or Android device. The results can be saved, shared or exported to a DAW. The app also allows you to create libraries of sounds and loops, save them for later use or share them with collaborators. "This unique combination of form factor, world-class content, UX and creator-centric AI takes us closer to the idea of an 'inspiration instrument' that you carry with you wherever you go," Splice's head of AI and machine learning, Alejandro Koretzky, told Resident Advisor. "We're not just building new tools; we're shaping new habits and introducing new paradigms by which human creation happens." Splice maintains a vast library of royalty-free one-shots, loops, FX, MIDI and presets, plus an AI tool that helps to sort and suggest samples. Subscribers to the platform can also access plugins and DAW software through Splice's rent-to-own gear marketplace. Watch a video about the new mobile app.
