  • wav.world is a new website for DJ mixes and artist interviews. Launched today, March 4th, the subscription-based platform uses membership fees to pay DJs for mixes. In addition, it will use DVS1's software Aslice to pay the producers and songwriters whose music features in the mixes. The first two instalments come from Fever AM founders Mor Elian and Rhyw. Each wav.world mix is free to stream. Users can opt into a paid membership for exclusive access to artist interviews, tracklists, discounts and other benefits. For the next six months, all wav.world content, including articles, will be available for free. "We believe that mixes are a unique type of musical expression," wav.world said in a press statement. "But mixes have become token content, requested for free then exchanged for promotion, pushed out into the world on a daily basis. Unless a mix is licensed, neither the DJ nor the artists whose music is played get paid." For more on wav.world, visit the website. Correction, March 5th: A previous version of this article incorrectly said wav.world would pay DJs for mixes using Aslice. They'd actually be paid using membership fees.
