  • The Blessed Madonna is coming home. Today, on February 22nd, iconic Chicago club smartbar named the DJ and producer as their newest 2024 guest resident. She joins other guests like Eris Drew, DJ Seinfeld and Ron Trent as well as the club's main residents including Ariel Zetina, Derrick Carter, Brenda and DJ Heather. "We are so excited to welcome The Blessed Madonna back home as a 2024 guest resident," smartbar wrote in a statement on Instagram. "smartbar alum and one of the most celebrated DJs of her time, thanks to her eclectic, joyous sets—which can encompass anything from classic electro and new wave to the latest techno and house white labels." Named as the club's first woman booker in 2013, The Blessed Madonna used their role to diversify its residents with DJs who weren't men. In 2015, they launched smartbar's Daphne festival—named after Daphne Oram—to showcase women and nonbinary talent.
