  • Laurent de Gourcuff, founder of French hospitality firm Paris Society, has been fined €150,000 for corruption, Le Monde reports. de Gourcuff—whose portfolio spans 70 venues, including Paris clubs such as Phantom, T7, YoYo, La Clairière and Bridge—was also given a two-year suspended prison sentence and banned from running a business for five years. Adjourned last week at Paris Criminal Court, the case centred around accusations of influence peddling and concealment of favouritism after Paris Society won a 12-year concession contract for the Longchamp Racecourse in 2018. de Gourcuff is said to have received privileged information during several meals with the marketing and sales director of France Galop, the company managing the racecourse at the time. Former France Galop executive Fabrice F. was also given a suspended two-year prison sentence and a fine of €30,000. de Gourcuff's lawyers immediately announced that they would appeal the judgment. We'll report more on this story as it unfolds.
