- The LP is out through Domino on May 17th.
Portishead vocalist Beth Gibbons is releasing her debut solo album, Lives Outgrown, on May 17th.
Out on Domino, the ten-track LP has been ten years in the making. Gibbons produced the record in collaboration with Simian Mobile Disco cofounder James Ford and former Talk Talk drummer Lee Harris. Its themes include motherhood, anxiety and the menopause.
"I realised what life was like with no hope and that was a sadness I'd never felt," she said. "People started dying. When you're young, you never know the endings, you don't know how it's going to pan out. You think, 'We're going to get beyond this. It's going to get better.' Some endings are hard to digest."
She added: "Now that I've come out of the other end, I just think you've got to be brave."
Gibbons will take A Lives Outgrown on tour across the UK and Europe in May and June. Find out more via her website.
