  • A new harm-reduction organisation focused on keeping nightlife safe in New York is up and running. SafeRaveNYC will offer numerous products and services, such as peer-led educational programmes, fentanyl and xylazine testing strips, naxolone, materials for safe sex, ear protection and sexual violence prevention. The group aims to partner with events geared towards BIPOC, LQGBTIA+ and 18+ audiences. Jared Skolnick, the lead coordinator at SafeRaveNYC, told Resident Advisor that he founded the group after leading chapters for health and safety non-profit DanceSafe. He wanted to support the community further by tailoring services specifically to different events. "DanceSafe does incredible work, but they now have a fairly rigid template for the services they can offer," he said. "Our mission is to provide harm-reduction services in any way that we can. Only a smaller, local-focused organisation can do that." SafeRaveNYC will host a kiosk at Brooklyn club House of Yes every first Thursday of the month.
