CCL releases mixtape, A Night in the Skull Discotheque, on T4T LUV NRG

- CCL has released a new mixtape. Out now on T4T LUV NRG, A Night in the Skull Discotheque features music described as "proto-dubstep" by the Berlin-based artist. Spanning the late '70s through 2000, the tracks have in some cases been mixed at the wrong speed or recontextualised through layering. The likes of Lee 'Scratch' Perry, African Head Charge, Kevin Saunderson, Leftfield and Severed Heads all feature. A portion of the profits will go to a GoFundMe raising funds for Palestinian relief charities Palästina Kampagne and ELSC. "After noticing uncanny references in tracks decades before FWD, (some of which) were from the most unexpected places, I started to keep a folder of these 'proto,' slowly adding to it over the years," CCL said on Instagram. "They began to tell a story more vivid and eerie than I could have imagined. Beyond just archiving, I wanted it to showcase what an interesting narrative and fantastical place these tracks illustrate, and the rich history of possible red threads." CCL is currently touring Asia, Australia and New Zealand with Objekt. They'll play in Auckland, Christchurch, Beijing and Shenzhen before the end of the month.
