dweller has confirmed it won't be hosting a Berlin event in 2024.
After bringing an all-Black lineup to Berghain and Panorama Bar last March, the New York festival has confirmed it won't be returning this year. "We made this decision a while ago due to the way German institutions were treating those opposing the current genocide in Palestine," the team wrote in a statement on social media. "It’s now reached an absurd level of control."
The post quoted the account of Strike Germany, a movement that calls on the international creative community to stop working with German cultural institutions over the government's alleged crackdown on pro-Palestine support.
dweller was launched in 2019 as an online publication and festival for Black electronic artists and fans. Its fifth edition takes place in New York from February 20th through 25th. For more on the festival, read our feature from 2022.
