Hamburg club PAL to close after nine years

- Hamburg's PAL has announced that it's closing down. The club broke the news on Instagram last Thursday, November 23rd. "Due to the current situation, we'd like to inform you today that our original idea of an ideal club can no longer be realised at the current location in the future for various reasons," the post read. "We'll celebrate extravagantly in December together as we have done for the last nine years." The statement didn't specify as to what these reasons are. PAL will close for good after January 1st. This weekend's party with Sedef Adasï and LOLSNAKE will go ahead as planned. It's the third club in the city that will close early next year, along with Fundbureau and Waagenbau. Both are located close to the Sternbrücke, a bridge in the Altona area of the city which is currently being rebuilt, and they'll be demolished to make way for the redevelopment. They'll close on February 1st. Wagenbau addressed the situation on Instagram earlier this month. "We're going after 20 fucking unbelievable years, sweating and glittering over into the New Year with you for the last time," the club wrote. According to T-Online, local officials promised to relocate the clubs to nearby spaces, but as the demolition date moves closer, this is looking less and less likely. "The plans have not progressed particularly far and there are no concrete contracts with the clubs," the article read. "It seems unlikely that a new club location near the Sternbrücke will be implemented in the near future." Bars Astra Stube and Beat Boutique will also close due to the development.
