A new book examining Berlin's club scene is on the way.
Set to be published in 2025 by independent publisher Reaktion Books, Berghain Nights: A Journey Through Techno And Berlin Club Culture will explore the scene through a collection of personal accounts, assessing what makes it so unique. As well as Berghain, Tresor, Cocktail d'Amore and KitKatClub all feature. There will also be interviews with a handful of DJs and producers from the scene.
"I wrote Berghain Nights to make sense of my club experiences, and to show the cultural value of techno clubs like Berghain," said author Liam Cagney. "Reaktion right away got what I'm doing. They're a fantastic home for music books and I couldn't be prouder to join their distinguished list."
Donegal-born Cagney, who was awarded the Arts Council of Ireland Emerging Writer award and holds a PhD in musicology, also has a book on French composer and Spectralist Movement pioneer Gérard Grisey out next month.
