  • British DJ, label owner and promoter Jamie Tiller died this past weekend. Music From Memory, the label he started with Tako Reyenga and Abel Nagengast in 2013, announced his passing today, October 19th. The remaining cofounders said Tiller was in a "tragic accident" last Sunday, October 15th. "Jamie was an absolute inspiration and an amazing friend," the statement continued. "He approached music with a purity and humility that gave joy to so many. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to touch and inspire people all around the world." As a cofounder of Music From Memory, Tiller helped define reissue and record digging culture in the early 2010s. The label put out seminal reissues and compilations of artists like Gigi Masin, Napoleon Cherry, Dip In The Pool and Suzo Sáiz, in many cases leading to career revivals for these artists. It also released acclaimed compilations of 20th-century Brazilian music, European and Japanese pop, IDM and more recently new music from Yu Su and Loveshadow. (Additionally, he ran Second Circle, a sub-label devoted to releasing all new dance music.) Tiller was also an accomplished and well-loved DJ who frequently toured around the world. He did an RA Podcast in 2017, which you can listen to below. He is survived by his wife and son. The label says information around a farewell and celebration of his life is to come.
